5 FACTS about Superman you probably didn't know

Today on HeroTechBlog we'll look at 5 FACTS about Superman you probably didn't know:

Everyone knows Superman. He's faster than a speeding bullet, can leap tall buildings in a single bound, can shoot lasers out of his eyes, can fly and is super strong, or is he? Today we go over some facts about Superman you probably didn't know.

Number 5: He couldn't always fly.

Superman made his appearance first in 1938 and his bio in the comic only stated that he was exceptionally strong, could withstand anything less than a bursting shell from a tank and was able to leap one-eighth of a mile.

In superman’s radio series it was the first time Superman's flying ability was mentioned finally in 1941 his flying ability was added into the comics and of course there were many more powers to come.

Number 4: Powers.

Speaking of powers there have been a plethora of them that people don't even know Superman possesses aside from super-strength, flight, enhanced hearing, invulnerability and super breath. Superman also has the abilities of microscopic vision, telescopic vision, heat vision, hypnotism, hyper ventriloquism, he can learn different languages quickly along with an ability to make a miniature version of himself and shoot it out of his hand.

Now there are many other powers but I think we're going to stop there.

Number 3: The very first Superman was evil.

Superman is known as an iconic character who was revered among many and I bet you didn't know that he was initially evil.

On January 1933 a short story written by Jerry Siegel called "The Reign of Superman" was published and it featured Superman as a telepathic villainous character, who just happens to look like Lex Luthor, one of Superman's arch nemesis.

Number 2: Kryptonite's birth.

Just like Superman's ability to fly, Kryptonite was incorporated into Superman's radio series in 1943, because his voice actors wanted to take some time off.

Needing to come up with a plausible backstory that would explain superman's absence the creator's came up with Kryptonite. They got away with not using the voice actors by placing Superman in a trap made of Kryptonite, in which he just made odd painful groans.

Number 1: The Gay Kryptonite.

And while we're on the topic of Kryptonite there was an alternate pink version of the material that seemed to possess the ability to turn Superman into a homosexual.

That’s right, Kryptonite that turns Superman gay.

Pink Kryptonite only made one appearance in issue 79 of the Supergirl comics, it's said that it was used to satire the Silver Age comic stories.

Hopefully some of these facts were new to you and give you a little insight on Superman and his history. But tell us, if you were given Superman's powers, what would you do with them? Would you be a hero or villain? Let us know in the comments below.
